Additional Information
In most OTR (over the road) trucking companies- it is the responsibility of the driver to load and unload freight from their respective trailers onto or from the customers dock. This is achieved by means of use of powered or un-powered pallet jacks or forklifts or in the case of equipment transport; operating the equipment to move on and off the trailer. This includes balancing the load weights and securing freight against movement or damage.
In addition, it is also the responsibility of the driver for the up keep, maintenance, and safe operation of their respective equipment; this includes the truck tractor, trailers, and load securing devices. I have driven over 1,000,000 miles without an “at fault” accident, loss of cargo claim, or rejection of a load for being late or damage.
